Stable PROFIBUS. This is how it works.
Stable radio that works.
Install, use, send and receive without interference: With PROFIBUS via radio, you benefit from reliable, stable data traffic that simply does what it should. Error messages are as rare as a lightning strike right outside the door.
Who still relies on wired solutions?
Retrofit with plug & play
Why make it complicated when it can be easy? With pre-configured solutions that you simply connect to your existing system via Plug & Play, retrofitting has never been easier.
You can use your PROFIBUS connection just as reliably as before without any changes to the system or new system approvals.
"We were very satisfied with the quality and reliability of the radio systems used and especially with the support from Schildknecht. With the radio modules used, the required safety standards in accordance with DIN 56950-1 1 could be achieved."
Anthony Grower, Marketing Specialist
"The elevator was approved for operation by the TÜV shortly before the Four Hills Tournament without any rework. After the first two years, we found that the elevator's availability was almost 100%."

"Intelligent radio" for the industry
Not all wireless systems are the same: standard wireless solutions are out of the question for industrial companies. Who has time for redundancies and latencies?
Our intelligent radio decouples the real-time interface from the radio interface: pre-processed data packets reduce the necessary bandwidth and redundant data packets are not transmitted in the first place. As a result, the radio links are not overloaded and fieldbus errors are avoided. In addition, the real-time capability of the PLC and its maximum bus speed can be maintained.
The result is the best possible productivity and cost-effectiveness of the systems. Win. Win. Win.
Safety & different Fieldbus technologies
Safe or not safe - that's not a question! The DATAEAGLE for Wireless PROFIBUS supports both: PROFIBUS and PROFIsafe. And with up to 1.5 MBit/s for PLC-to-PLC communication or PLC-to-Remote IO - just as you wish. PROFIBUS components, regardless of the manufacturer, are connected quickly and easily.
Genuine plug & play - ideal for retrofitting
Install, connect, get started. The simple installation without configuration is designed to be immediately available and functional even in existing systems. Without installation. Without integration into the hardware configuration. And without hassle.
High reliability & availability
Intelligent radio decouples the real-time interface from the radio interface. This reliably suppresses interference and keeps the connection running. And runs. And runs.
Focus on data
Pre-processed data packets reduce the necessary bandwidth and radio links are not overloaded. This ensures a reliable connection and completely eliminates fieldbus errors.
Cost-effectiveness and worldwide use
Maintenance-free systems are the future - lay the foundation with Funk. Once set up, you don't need to carry out maintenance or worry about machine downtime. Everything is done. It just works.
Diagnosis & personal support
Simply make it even easier: We are happy to support you in setting up your wireless solution and are also available for you at any time after commissioning. With the integrated internal device diagnostics, you always know what's going on.
Would you like to delve deeper into the topic of "intelligent radio"? This way:
Topology - how much radio can it be?
Wireless beats cable: simple installation and absolutely flexible connections - from simple to multipoint or complex applications. Do you want to replace your existing cable solution? Then the point-to-point connection with quick changeover is the right choice. Need something a little more complex? The multipoint connection with several slaves offers the greatest possible flexibility.
This makes data transmission a reliable and loss-free player for industrial companies with high requirements. In a nutshell: maximum flexibility with maximum cost-effectiveness.
Use cases - how it works in industry
Whether conveyor technology for cranes, connecting systems in sewage treatment plants or driverless transport systems: Wireless is always sexy. Especially in industry, stable connections are the be-all and end-all. Intelligent radio is the reliable partner for everything that counts.

Frequently asked questions
Slip rings transfer power and data from a stationary unit to rotating objects where cables with their fixed connections cannot be used due to the movement. In the past, such slip ring assemblies have often helped to solve challenges in the design and construction of rotating applications such as rotary tables. At the same time, their functional principle, which requires permanent electrical contact, is only suitable for transmitting data to a limited extent: while short interruptions in the power supply generally do not pose any problems, they mean delayed or lost telegrams in data communication between control systems, which lead to errors and, as a result, often to system downtimes. Another disadvantage of data transmission via a slip ring is the wear caused by the materials grinding against each other.
Slip rings and rotary feedthroughs remain a good alternative for pure current transmission. They can be optimally supplemented with wireless solutions, for example. As a result, power transmission and data communication are then separated, which has a positive effect on the stability of the solution and reduces EMC interference. As a rule, the combination of slip rings for the power supply with wireless solutions for data communication is also significantly cheaper than slip ring systems that can simultaneously transmit power and Ethernet protocols such as Profinet. This retrofit ensures the gradual modernization of existing slip ring transmissions without high investment hurdles.
Flexibly adaptable production systems, multi-axis robot systems and decentralized machines place high demands on signal and data transmission. Wired solutions reach their limits when moving or rotating parts and mobile systems are to be integrated via PROFIBUS, PROFINET, PROFIsafe and other fieldbus protocols. Absolute reliability is just as important here as a long service life and freedom from maintenance in the case of wireless communication. Only a secure connection between controllers and IO modules guarantees the long-term availability of machines and systems without downtime.
The black channel principle allows safe and non-safe process data to be transmitted via the same network or bus lines. Regardless of the regular data transport mechanism used on this line, safety components can transmit data using an isolated safe protocol that tunnels through the underlying network channel. As safe fieldbuses are purely application protocols without their own physical properties, the available bandwidths and cycle times depend on the data transport protocol used. Possible transmission errors are known and listed in the relevant standards IEC 61784-3 and IEC 61508.
Black channel principle explained in detail:
What does the black channel principle mean for PROFISAFE?
The PROFIsafe protocol has no effect on the standard bus protocols. It should be as independent as possible of the respective transmission channel, whether copper cable, fiber optic cable, backplane bus or wireless. Neither the transmission rates nor the respective error detection play a role. For PROFIsafe, the transmission channels are merely "black channels".

PROFISAFE - same protocol with radio and cable
Whether for a crane control system, the emergency stop transmission of a production machine or other safety-related communication: PROFIsafe has established itself as the standard for functionally safe communication and has been an international standard since 2007 under the designation IEC 61784-3-3. The safety-related protocol is used to transmit data between a safety controller (F-PLC or F-Host) and field devices (F-Devices). While the controller and device are usually safety-related components and must be certified accordingly, PROFIsafe has no effect on the standard bus protocols used according to the system description: whether with Industrial Ethernet (PROFINET IO), via RS485 (PROFIBUS-DP), via backplanes or wireless - the method used for data transmission has no influence on the safety classification. The transmission channels are merely so-called "black channels", from which the actual PROFIsafe application is set up completely independently. Accordingly, the PROFIsafe system description also states: Wireless transmission is permitted as long as sufficient availability (no false triggering) and IT security are guaranteed.
Safe data transmission via radio: the black channel principle in detail
This means that the use of wireless technologies, just like other radio technologies, is intended and possible by definition. Both the safety controller and the remote IO system - for example a safety switch - contain the safety protocol. The interface between them is merely the channel for transmitting the safety information. Accordingly, no safety certification is required for the wireless device and it is treated like other infrastructure components, such as switches or cables. This saves the recalculation or verification of the safety level (SISTEMA) when using a black channel solution.
